Hindu religious texts to be part of curriculum in Madhya Pradesh govt schools

MP CM Shivraj Chouhan said Hindu religious scriptures will be taught to students in government schools.

By Ravish Pal Singh: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced that Hindu religious texts such as the Gita, Ramcharitmanas and Vedas will be taught in state-run government schools.

CM Shivraj Chouhan said,”…be it our Ramayana, Mahabharata, Vedas, Upanishads, Srimad Bhagwad Gita, these are our invaluable books and these texts have the ability to make a human being moral and complete.”

“The education of our religious books, I am saying as the chief minister, will give education in government schools. We will teach the essence of Geeta ji, Ramayana ji, Ramcharitmanas ji, and the context of Mahabharata will be taught,” the CM said.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan further said that along with other subjects, these religious books will also be taught in government schools.

“Why shouldn’t Lord Ram be taught? Tulsidas ji has written such a great book (Ramcharit Manas), where will such a book be found? I bow down to Tulsidas ji, Tulsi Baba who gave this book Ramayana ji, Ramcharit Manas and such people who insult these great men of ours will not be tolerated. By teaching our holy books in Madhya Pradesh, we will make our children’s morals perfect,” CM Chouhan said.

“I want to tell them that Ram is in our every breath, Ram is present in our every breath, and this country is nothing without Ram. Ram is our existence, Ram is our life, Ram is our God and Ram is the identity of India,” he added.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s announcement comes against the backdrop of a couple of non-BJP leaders raising objections to Ramcharit Manas.
